Swinerton is providing general contracting services for the United Airlines Gate of the Future (GOTF) Program at the Denver International Airport (DEN). The project includes the modernization of 55 existing flight hold rooms within Concourse B and four hold rooms at the South Finger Regional gate area. The project will include IFC packages for Concourse B-West, B-East, and South Finger. The work will be completed during night hours with the exceptions of Gates 59, 61 and the 4 Landline gates at South Finger that allowed day work shifts.

The scope of work includes the removal of all carpet flooring, seating, podiums, barriers, equipment, and misc. items. Swinerton will coordinate with DEN and United Airlines for the management of owner assets, material disposal, installation of temporary walls, barriers, and guidance signage for the completion of the designated work, installing electrical power, data, WIFI, CCTV coverage, and fire alarm shunting to the equipment from nearby electrical rooms and telecom rooms to make sure they are powered and capable of displaying information to the traveling public. Swinerton will also install wall panels, wall finishes, painting, new carpet and flooring, new seating, chairs, tables, work areas, and passenger guidance barriers within the designed areas that include dynamic queuing signs, flight Information displays, three self-service kiosks (ELO), and new gate podiums at each hold room.

Swinerton, in partnership with Griffin|Swinerton, is providing developer, finance, and build-to-suit services of a new city-owned and operated 40,000-square-foot corporate aircraft hangar and a 3,000-square-foot inspections building. Set on a four-acre site, the facilities will support the US Customs agency at McKinney National Airport. The corporate hanger will include offices, vehicle garages, a 300-foot hangar bay, as well as an additional 60,000 square feet of aircraft apron. A 45-stall surface parking lot will be built in support. The FIS building will include a pre-processing area, a processing area, an employee breakroom, and a small computer/LAN room. The facility will be built to be blast resistant in adherence to US Department of Homeland Security and US Customs and Border Protection. The FIS building will operate as a fully functioning General Aviation Federal Inspection Station upon completion.

Located at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, this cargo building was a high priority for Southwest Airlines and was completed in under 6 months. Because of the high-security clearances at this airport, the team managed to coordinate with multiple public, private, and federal entities in order to complete this job. To keep up with the increased airport operations, this project expands the airline’s capacity to stock its aircrafts with food, beverages, and ice. The scope of work includes building out an existing, unoccupied warehouse on airport grounds to increase available space for storage, industrial ice production, and conference rooms. Additional improvements to the facility include converting the existing single roll-up doors to double-roll-up doors and upgrades to building lighting and HVAC systems

Swinerton is the general contractor on a development at Long Beach Airport to create 30,000 square feet of hangar space and approximately 3,000 square feet of adjoining office space for tenant Atlantic Aviation. Swinerton’s scope of work consists of the demolition of existing hangar facilities and the construction of a new hangar facility. The new hangar will be a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB). Work also includes the paving of a parking lot and aircraft ramp area.

Swinerton provided general contracting services for the tenant improvement at Delta A Centerpoint Sky Club. The phase one project scope included a structural infill of 1,200 square feet to allow for future expansion of the third floor. The client added phase two to the project scope, where Swinerton built out 4,700 square feet of the third floor sky club.

The most unique aspect of the project was the construction of the infill over one of the busiest airport terminals. The scope included new structural steel, concrete, and new metal panel ceilings to match the rest of the concourse. To enable the installation of structural steel and concrete, the project team constructed a scaffold dance floor over the boarding level. The scaffold was concealed with framing, drywall, and ACT ceiling to aid in our invisibility during construction.
